A 28-page manga work themed around video games, presented as part of a manga exhibition organized by Ginza Sony Park in New York. The protagonists are Oni and Kappa—signature yōkai characters previously developed in series such as YOKAIDO—who embark on a cosmic adventure in search of a game CD-ROM.
The completed work was exhibited as an installation at the New York venue, where visitors could also read a bound edition of the manga on site. Inspired by Yajirōbei and Kitahachi from Tōkaidōchū Hizakurige, the Oni–Kappa pair was conceived as a recurring duo, and this work became the foundation for a broader project that continues across multiple narratives.
銀座ソニーパークがニューヨークで企画した漫画展において発表された、「ゲーム」をテーマとする28ページの漫画作品である。主人公には、《YOKAIDO》などのシリーズですでにキャラクター化されていた代表的な妖怪であるオニとカッパを据え、ゲームのCD-ROMを探して宇宙を冒険する物語が描かれている。
完成作品はニューヨークの会場でインスタレーションとして展示され、あわせて製本された漫画を現地で読むことができる形式で発表された。オニとカッパのペアは、『東海道中膝栗毛』の弥次郎兵衛と喜多八に着想を得たキャラクターとして構成され、本作を起点に、以後複数の物語へと展開するプロジェクトの基盤となった。

Oni Kappa and the Twelve Zodiac Animals is Takakurakazuki’s first picture book, featuring Oni and Kappa as its protagonists. In this story, Oni and Kappa observe the cycles of creation and destruction of a virtual Earth together with the twelve zodiac animals. Where many previous picture books centered on the zodiac have been limited to race-based narratives—such as “the rat comes first, the ox comes second”—this work was created to reconsider the zodiac by returning to its underlying structure, linking the twelve animals with Yin–Yang and the Five Elements. The text of the story was also written by Takakurakazuki himself.
『鬼カッパと十二支』は、たかくらかずきにとって最初の絵本作品であり、オニとカッパを主人公とした物語である。本作では、オニとカッパが十二支とともに、バーチャルな地球の創世と滅亡、その輪廻の過程を観察していく。これまで十二支をテーマとした絵本の多くが、「一着はネズミ、二着はウシ」といった競走形式の物語に限られてきたことに対し、本作は、陰陽五行と干支を結びつけた本来的な意味構造に立ち返り、十二支を捉え直すことを目的として制作された。物語のテキストも、たかくら自身が執筆している。Manga: Oni Kappa and the Buddhas / 漫画 オニカッパと仏たち
