The solo exhibition Characters Are Characters, held at Hyper Museum Hanno, presented an installation of character-based works using digital technologies such as video games, AI, and AR. The characters were inspired by oni and kappa, the twelve zodiac signs, Buddhism and Shinto, and yōkai. The exhibition showcased more than ten game works previously created by Takakurakazuki, presented in rotating displays throughout the exhibition period and made playable for visitors.
The exhibition also featured a large-scale installation space centered on Hyperman, a sculptural work approximately four meters tall that had previously been presented at GINZA SIX. Drawing inspiration from the three-dimensional mandala at Tō-ji Temple in Kyoto and from events such as the Tokyo Game Show, the exhibition structure extended across both the interior and exterior of the venue.

ハイパーミュージアム飯能で開催された個展「キャラクターはことば」では、ビデオゲームやAI、ARなどのデジタルテクノロジーを用い、オニやカッパ、十二支、仏教・神道、妖怪をモチーフとしたキャラクター作品のインスタレーションを展開した。本展では、たかくらがこれまでに制作した10点以上のゲーム作品を、会期中に展示替えを行いながら公開し、実際にプレイ可能な形で展示した。
また、GINZA SIXでも発表された高さ約4メートルの立体作品「ハイパーマン」を中心とする大型インスタレーション空間を構成した。京都・東寺の立体曼荼羅や東京ゲームショウなどから着想を得た展示構成を、会場の内外に展開した。

Paintings based on the Twelve Zodiac animals are installed throughout the venue. In Eastern thought, the Twelve Zodiac form a system that symbolizes the integration of direction and time. In addition, the venue features 25 characters of Buddhas and yōkai, as well as 12 zodiac character objects installed outdoors. Each of these displays includes a QR code. By scanning them, visitors can collect digital collectibles corresponding to each character. Visitors who complete a certain number of collections are granted an AR character. This AR character can be obtained as an NFT, allowing visitors to take a digital character home as part of the viewing experience.
館内には、十二支をモチーフにしたペインティングが設置されている。十二支は東洋において、方位と時間の融合を象徴する体系である。また、館内に配置された25種類の仏や妖怪のキャラクター、屋外に設置された12種類の十二支キャラクターのオブジェには、それぞれQRコードが記されている。これらを読み取ることで、各キャラクターのデジタルコレクティブルを収集できる。それぞれのコレクションを達成した鑑賞者には、ARキャラクターが付与される。ARはNFTとして取得でき、鑑賞体験の一部としてデジタルなキャラクターを持ち帰ることが可能となる。
Data NUE / Kyarasoku Jissou Shiki

On an artificial island floating on the lake outside the Hyper Museum, “Data Nue” was installed. It was established as a branch shrine of “Hyper Shrine 6D,” which Takakura founded on Naoshima, and through AR, a shrine building that enshrines digital data appears. On the day of its establishment, the ritual “Kyarasoku Jissou Shiki” was performed, in which Takakura summoned Oni, Kappa, and Benzaiten and offered them to the deity of digital data.

ハイパーミュージアムの屋外、湖上の人工島には「データぬえ」が設置された。これは、直島にたかくらが建立した「ハイパー神社6D」の分社として設置されたものであり、ARによってデジタルデータを祀る社殿が出現する。建立初日には、オニ・カッパ・弁天をたかくらが召喚し、デジタルデータの神に奉納する儀式「伽羅即実装式」が執り行われた。

At the venue, “Hyper Zero-One Ondo,” composed by Yu Miyake with lyrics by Takakurakazuki, is played. The Bon-odori choreography for the piece was created by Takutaku Yamamoto and Kan Fukuhara of Hanchu-Yuei, and dance events were held regularly throughout the exhibition period.

会場では、三宅優作曲、たかくらかずき作詞による「ハイパーゼロイチ音頭」が流れる。範宙遊泳の山本卓卓、福原冠により同曲の盆踊りの振り付けが考案され、展示会期中には定期的に踊るイベントが開催された。
